There was fun to be had in Sun-derland as Wearside enjoyed one of its warmest days of the year – and Friday is set to be even hotter.
Whether it was a stroll along Seaburn or Roker beach, an ice cream in Mowbray Park or just a spot of sunbathing in the back garden, Wearsiders took advantage of blue skies and high temperatures.
But experts have warned us to make the best of any spells of good weather - because it may be shortlived.
Met Office experts are predicting a chance of thunderstorms and heavy showers in some parts.
Forecaster Daniel Panton-King said once the showers clear there will be “plenty of sunshine”.
The majority of England and Wales will have a “nice, fine day” on Saturday but northern England and up into Scotland will see some wind and “blustery showers”.
The forecaster said the weekend will see a “north-south split” as the weather will be similar on Sunday.
