A MILITARY support group is set to hold a series of meetings in the coming weeks.
Sunderland Armed Forces Network (SAFN) aims to bring together the community and support organisations set up across the city in recent years.
It hopes to attract former service personnel to attend network meetings and provide suggestions on how to improve their situation.
It will meet at 9.30am on Thursday, September 6, when it is hoped a full presentation will take place on welfare reform in Sunderland.
It will be followed by another meeting at 9.30am on Thursday, November 15.
The venues for the events have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the group, which was launched last year, has organised a campaign to raise awareness of the plight of many ex-members of the Army, RAF and Royal Navy as well as the help which is available.
As well as advertisements and promotional leaflets, the drive involves SAFN volunteers attending Sunderland Airshow, which starts on Friday.
SAFN recently launched a website as a “one-stop portal” for military matters in the city, highlighting local and national issues and providing a support service for those looking to start life as a civilian.
