Premier league players swapped nets for the day when they put a sports centre to the test.
Sunderland AFC players Lynden Gooch, Didier Ibrahim Ndong and Adnan Januzaj made an appearance at the Silksworth Tennis Centre to promote its new membership offer.
The centre has launched a scheme giving visitors unlimited access to its tennis and gym facilities for just £50 per month.
Affiliated with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the centre is one of the most premier tennis facilities in the country and hosts regular tournaments for county, national and international events.
The players took full advantage of the facilities on offer and took part in a tennis session with more than 100 children from Biddick Primary School, Rickleton Primary School, Barnwell Primary School, New Penshaw Primary School, JFK Primary School, Fatfield Primary School and St Joseph’s RC Primary in Washington.
The players were also shown the centre’s refurbished 11-a-side and seven-a-side 3G football pitches and the ski slope at the nearby Silksworth Sports Complex and Ski Slope.
They were very complimentary of the facilities available here and were particularly impressed with the football pitches.Dean Randall
