WEARSIDE is set to bask in glorious sunshine this Easter – with temperatures matching those in the Med.
Dozens of families have been descending on Seaburn beach this week, making the most of the blazing sunshine and scorching temperatures.
And forecasters say the barbecue weather is set to continue over the coming days.
The Met Office predicts “dry, sunny spells” for much of the region over the coming four days.
However, it also warned there was a possibility of a few showers, particularly in coastal areas.
A Met Office spokesman said: “We are predicting mainly fine, dry and warm conditions for most parts of the UK this Easter weekend.
“Temperatures are likely to be well above the average for late April, with highs reaching the low 20s during the long weekend.”
Meanwhile Wearsiders were today beginning their big Easter weekend getaway, with major roads expected to be busy as people make the most of the extended break.
