SIXTH form students ended a year of fund-raising by handing over £5,500 to Sunderland’s Grace House Children’s’ Hospice Appeal.
Michelle Keeler accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity, thanking the Hermitage Academy students for the very generous donation.
Students at the Chester-le-Street school raised the money through a number of activities.
They included the 84-mile Hadrian’s Wall walk, and the gruelling Allendale Challenge, which covers 26 miles of peat bogs in the north Pennines.
Student Charlotte Keyworth said: “We are delighted with the funds raised and we are looking forward to taking part in a similar project next year.”
Janice Riley, head of sixth form and assistant headteacher at the Hermitage Academy said, “This was a tremendous effort from all of the sixth form to raise such an impressive amount of money.”
