A BUDDING young journalist is getting a taste of life in a newsroom as part of a national event today.

Stephanie Little, a pupil at St Robert of Newminster School, was one of thousands of Wearside youngsters to take part in Takeover Day.

The 17-year-old spent today shadowing Echo editor Rob Lawson sampling life working on a newspaper.

She said: “Journalism is always a thing I thought it would be nice to do, especially because at school I enjoy writing and researching.”

Takeover Day is a national event that gives children and young people the chance to work with adults for the day, and be involved in decision-making.

It aims to give them the chance to experience the world of work and make their voices heard.
