A NEW wave of weather has swept into the North East as autumn starts to set in.
This dramatic shot was captured as the sea smashed over Seaham’s North Pier yesterday.
The recent warm and dry spell made way for cooler temperatures as the region was battered by a day-long lashing of wet, wild and windy conditions.
A yellow weather warning was in place by the Met Office, which said the heavy showers could lead to a risk of flooding and disruption. Showers and long spells of rain are expected today.
Forecasters predict the skies will clear tomorrow, but expect the rain to return on Monday and then early on Tuesday into late afternoon.
