SANTA’S sledge, pulled by Shetland ponies, led a parade as Seaham’s Christmas lights were switched on.
Brass musicians from Seaham Music Academy and choirs of children from Seaview and Seaham Trinity primary schools started the town’s celebration.
Mayor Barbara Ramshaw said: “It’s absolutely brilliant.
“I think it’s a really great turnout, especially because it’s a bit chilly.”
Seaham Town Council added additional lights to the trees in the high street.
