YOU BETTER watch out, you better not cry...

Christmas came early for these lucky youngsters when Santa Claus dropped in to visit Southwick for the annual Christmas lights switch-on.

Sun FM were on hand to entertain the crowds, while the children of the Southwick Primary School Choir and the Salvation Army Band performed a selection of Christmas carols to get the crowds into the festive mood.

And it was a particularly special event for Mayor of Sunderland Coun Norma Wright.

A Southwick girl, she regaled the crowd with memories of how she and her sisters used to play on The Green before she threw the switch to turn on this year’s display.

And there was just time for Santa to hand out sweets to the children in the crowd and pose for the odd picture for some proud parents.
