North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, will be holding its strawberry tea on Saturday from 3pm to 5pm. Cost is £4. Everybody is welcome.

Tunstall WI celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday at the June meeting with a lovely strawberry tea and members dressing in their finery for the occasion. Marion and Ray entertained and five visitors were welcomed. The next meeting will be this Thursday at 7pm in North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth. It will be members’ night, when members Marjorie and Joanne will take over as president and secretary and the whole meeting will be arranged by them. The competition will be an unusual chocolate item. Members will be reminded that August is holiday month so the annual trip on Wednesday, August 10, will replace the meeting. The trip bus is full.

Ryhope Infants School Academy is holding its summer fair on Tuesday, July 19, at 1.15pm. There will be lots of entertainment including face-painting, nail art, pupils own creative stall, a bowling alley and many stalls. Entry is free and open to all the community.

There is an opportunity to go along to Ryhope Community Centre tomorrow at 11am and meet representatives from local area response services, community police, local councillors and Gentoo.
