The next meeting, which will be the AGM, of Sunderland South Forum takes place tomorrow at the Jubilee Centre, Allendale Road, Farringdon, at 1pm (12.30pm light buffet). The speaker will be Stephen Cowans, Gentoo Living. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Lorna on 019 5228447.

Fresh Start Community Cafe, at the Jubilee Centre, Farringdon, is hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Thursday between 10am and 2pm. We are hoping people will support the charity by popping along and having a natter over tea, coffee and cake. The cafe would also welcome donations of cake, please make sure they arrive on the Thursday by 9.30am at the very latest.

North Street Methodist Church is holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday from 10am to noon. There will also be a cake stall and fair trade stall. There will be no coffee morning on Saturday.

Silksworth Brownies and Guides meet on a Friday night during school term-time in North Street Methodist Church. Brownies meet from 5.30pm to 7pm followed by Guides from 7.30pm to 9pm. If you are interested in joining go along and speak to the leaders

Susan Johnson and her friends are holding their yearly coffee morning event in aid of Macmillan nurses on Saturday at Silksworth Cricket Club, from 10am.There will be a tombola, stalls and a bouncy castle. All are welcome.

Saint Paul’s Church, Ryhope, is holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday from 10.30am. All are welcome.

It’s Christmas Shoebox harvest celebration time at Silksworth IM Church this Sunday at 10.30am. The church will be harvesting its goods and donations for the shoebox appeal as usual so that members can sort, pack and wrap the gifts to send to some of the poorest Eastern European countries as a token of love this Christmas. Wrapping day will be Saturday, October 10, during the church coffee morning.

Saint Benedict’s Hospice will shortly be opening a charity furniture shop in Ryhope and is looking to recruit volunteers to work in the shop. Interested parties should contact Catrina Flynn, fundraising manager, on 0191 512 8435 or email catrina.flynn@stft.nhs.uk.

The next Silksworth Village Surgery’s Patient Participation Group meeting is this Thursday at 5pm. Guest speaker will be Ian Stafford, from Citizen’s Advice Bureau.
