FIREFIGHTERS went into action after a shed blaze spread to a house.
Crews from Tyne and Wear and Durham fire services attended the fire in Primrose Crescent, Bournmoor, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.
Watch manager Paul Leyfield, of High Handenhold Fire Station, said: “The fire started in a shed in the back garden and spread to the roof space of the house.”
The property was empty at the time but the owners returned when the fire service was there.
The fire caused some damage to the outside of the house but the owners were allowed back inside.
The cause is unknown at this stage.
