OLYMPIC fever continues to sweep the region as the countdown to the London Games hots up.

Now, young pupils are determined they are not going to miss out.

Westlea, Seaview, Ropery Walk and St Cuthbert’s primary schools from Seaham each paraded their own Olympic-style torch through the streets as they made their way the town park.

The event saw 150 children join in 11 different Olympic-inspired activities, gaining a stamp on their scorecard as they went round.

The day was rounded off by a presentation of certificates to the children.
