The Seaham Branch of the Royal British Legion will meet at 7pm in the Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, on Wednesday, September 21. New members are welcome. Orders for wreaths are now being taken. The Poppy Appeal will shortly be upon us and the RBL needs help in manning collection points in local supermarkets. If you can spare an hour or two during the Poppy Appeal, please contact the local Poppy Appeal organiser on 0191 581 0419.

A free Craft and Craft session is held every Monday, 10am to noon, in Enfield Road Church Hall, Eastlea, Seaham. All are welcome to join in the friendly, warm atmosphere which the members share.

In the parish Room of St John the Evangelist, Seaham, there will be held a Harvest Supper of broth and stottie on Thursday, September 22, commencing at 7pm.

The monthly Friday lunches, with a nourishing three-course home cooked meal plus tea or coffee, result on Friday, September 23, between 11.30am and 1pm in Christ Church Hall, Station Road. There is a tombola stall with lots of prizes to win. Come along and bring a friend. There is always a friendly and warm atmosphere.

On Saturday, September 24, at 10am, a special service will be held in St. Andrew’s Church, Dalton-le-Dale, to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Dr Gelston’s ordination as a priest. Dr Gelston is well known in Easington Deanery and Durham Diocese, having officiated at many churches throughout his years of ministry.

Holy Communion will be celebrated in Christ Church, New Seaham, on Sunday, September 25, at 10am, and Evening Prayer at 6pm. St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale, will hold Morning Prayer at 10am. All are welcome to attend any of the services.

Dawdon (2nd Seaham) held a very happy and successful group camp at Moor House, West Rainton, during the last week of the school holidays. The winter programme is now being planned and new members for all sections, between the ages of six and 14, are welcome.

Adult help is urgently being sought for the Scout section. The group meets on Friday evenings at The Farm Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, Seaham (just west of the Fire Station). Anyone interested please contact the Group Scout Leader on 0191 581 0419.
