As of December 7, Seaham Branch of the Royal British Legion banked £18,969.58 for the Poppy Appeal and there is still money to come in from wreaths. This is a fantastic amount raised by the community of Seaham and district and there is until September next year to beat last year’s total of more than £20,000. Thank you everyone for all the help you have given, and will continue, hopefully, to give our Service personnel, past, present and future. Donations throughout the year can be sent to the Poppy Appeal Organiser, c/o Mrs E Armes.

At the December meeting of Seaham Central Townswomen’s Guild, Mrs B Parkinson presided and Mrs M Eilbeck read the minutes of the last meeting, and Mrs L Burns gave the financial report. Members had enjoyed the North Eastern Federation Christmas dinner, the Federation Christmas Afternoon and the Carol Service. Members enjoyed a Christmas supper and were entertained by members of Curtain Call.
