A NATIONAL sailing championships are being hosted in Sunderland next month.
From Thursday to next Friday, between 40 and 50 sailors are expected to attend the national championships of the Phantom Class dinghy.
The fast sailing dinghies will be sailing into Seaburn bay between the North pier and Whitburn as part of the event, which is hosted by Sunderland Yacht Club.
Alan Dixon, of the club, said “We are delighted that the Phantom Class has chosen Sunderland as a venue for their National Championships.
“It is a pleasure and honour to host the event. This is the first time since Filey in 1999 that the Class has held the championships in the North of England.”
