RUSH-HOUR commuters faced major delays after a mobile crane broke down on a Sunderland road.
The crane broke down on the A183 Chester Road Sunderland today, causing major tailbacks on the busy route.
Police were on the scene, with one officer on the road directing traffic going in both directions of the carriageway.
Large queues formed on a roundabout on the A183 road, heading towards Penshaw Monument.
It is not known when the broken down vehicle will be able to be moved from the road.
