A rugby club in South Tyneside aim to set the weekend off with a bang.
A sparkling fireworks display is on offer at South Shields and Westoe Rugby Club on Friday.
The community event will raise much needed funds for the club in Dean Road, South Shields.
It is set to kick off at 6pm with fairground rides, soft play, food and drinks, and the chance to meet your favourite superheroes.
Fire dancers will put on a display from 8.15pm and fireworks will light up the sky from 8.30pm.
Club manager Jan Robinson said: “We have this event every year, this is the ninth year now and everybody always has a great time and it all helps the club keep going.
“It’s a big community event for all the family and we hope everyone comes down to join us again for a fun night out.
“It’s always great seeing everyone come together to enjoy themselves and we hope this year is no different.”
Club volunteers will be on hand to ensure a night of family fun.
Duncan Murray, the rugby club’s chairman, said: “Throughout the course of the year we have 60,000 people using our club’s which obviously puts a massive strain on our facilities.
“So events like this, which are well supported by the community, help us so much.”
The display has attracted crowds of more than 2,000 in previous years, with another bumper turn-out expected this time.
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £5 for children and OAPs and entry is free for under-fives.
A family ticket can be bought before the day for £20.
Tickets can be bought from the venue’s bar and club house or by calling 456 1506.
