THE end is in sight for roadworks on a busy route between Sunderland and Durham.
Resurfacing works on a three-mile stretch of the A690 between Carrville and Middle Rainton have been ongoing for the last fortnight.
The lane restrictions, reduced speed limits and diversions are due to end on Monday, hitting their target date.
The good weather has been credited with helping the project to re-lay 27,000sq metres of road keep to its schedule.
Motorists travelling between Sunderland and Durham have been affected by traffic jams caused by the works. West Rainton traders said diversions had an impact on business because motorists could not access it from the A690.
