CHOCOLATE cake has come out as the clear winner in a poll to find the North East’s favourite pudding.
With a whopping 32 per cent, chocolate cake trumped its closest rival carrot cake, which is preferred by 13 per cent of voters.
Angel cake was voted for by a fairly non-edible two per cent, in the YouGov poll.
The results come as children’s charity Barnardo’s launches its Big Tea Party this week.
The party is being backed by famous cake maker, Jane Asher, plus Amanda Holden, Stephen Fry and Great British Bake Off Judge, Mary Berry, who have all shared their favourite recipes.
Barnardo’s is encouraging nurseries and parents to arrange a big tea party for children under five, with the aim of getting youngsters to think of each other.
Children are asked to donate £1 to attend, with all the money raised going directly to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable under fives.
A free, downloadable pack to help arrange a suitable party is available by logging on to www.bigteaparty.org.uk.
