Gary Collin, general manager of the Nissan Sports, Social and Conference Centre, said: “The Real Ale and Cider Festival will complement the food festival and allow mums and dads to have a half during the day. It will then carry on into the evening and offer plenty to the dedicated ale fan.”

Archers Jersey Ice Cream, in Jesmond, will have a stall at Delicious and will serve up a special real ale ice cream alongside traditional flavours and quirky ones, including gin and tonic and Pimms.

Tickets for the Saturday cost £11 and include an entry ticket from 7pm to 11.30pm, a programme and tasting notes, a souvenir glass, live music and entertainment and five real ale vouchers. There is no additional cost to visit the ale festival during the main festival times, noon to 8pm on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
