PULL on your running shoes to race through one of our most historic estates.

The Lambton Estate, near Burnmoor, is throwing open its gates to host two runs in its picturesque grounds in partnership with the Foundation of Light.

The annual 10k and 3k runs will be held at the County Durham estate on Sunday, June 30.

Now in their third year, the runs raise money for SAFC’s official charity and aim to cater for all ages and abilities, from families and fun runners to competitive athletes.

Both the competitive 10k run and the 3k family fun run will be taking place on a traffic free, mixed terrain course within the grounds.

Foundation of Light event co-ordinator Katrina Quinn said: “The Lambton Runs are a great opportunity for people who want to challenge themselves to do something different this year.

“That said it’s a fantastic and unique course that will appeal to seasoned veterans and enthusiastic amateurs alike.

“We’d like to offer our public thanks to the Lambton Estate for supporting us for a second year running through this event.”

The minimum age of participants for the 10k run is 17 years.

Entry fee for 10k UKA (athletics group) members is £12 and £14 for unattached runners.

The 3k fee for UKA members is £6 and £8 for unattached runners. Runners are asked to raise sponsorship money to support the Foundation of Light although this is not a condition of entry.

The event is sponsored by the Cestria Community Housing, Lambton Estate, Northumbrian Water and Sweatshop.
