FUN runners will be doused in a rainbow of colour as they hit the paths of a city beauty spot.
Wearside hospice Grace House’s Race for Grace has been changed into the Colour in the Park 5k run.
Taking place at Herrington Country Park next month, the event will see participants, who begin wearing white clothing, daubed in different coloured powders to raise money for the Southwick facility.
Karen Maclennan, fund-raiser at Grace House, said: “Come along and experience the magic in the rainbow 5k colour fun run.
“Whether you run, walk or skip, travel through our colour stations and have crew marshals paint you with special coloured powder. Wear white as your canvas and finish with your very own art piece.”
Virgin Active, which has a gym at Doxford Park in the city, is sponsoring the red colour station on the day.
Workers from the company will also be providing every adult taking part with a red drawstring bag and a guest pass for the club.
Weather permitting, they will also be bringing along their portable tennis court.
The event, which takes place on Sunday, September 21, will begin with a gentle warm-up at 11.10am, with the fun run scheduled to get under way at 11.30am.
As part of the registration, participants will receive a white T-shirt, a pair of neon glasses and a packet of paint for the Colour in the Park after-party where runners can create their very own colour cloud.
Hungry finishers can also grab a slice of pizza, courtesy of Pizza Uno in Pallion, a bottle of water thanks to Northumbrian Water and chocolate.
Junior runners or walkers will receive a goody bag.
Registration is £15 for those aged 18 and over, £7.50 for entrants aged five to 17, and free for those aged four and under.
