FUND-RAISIERS have given a charity a boost of more than £1,000.

Usworth Quilters held an exhibition and sale at Holy Trinity Church, High Usworth, to generate money for the North East Air Ambulance Service.

Joan Alston, of Usworth Quilters, said: “It’s gone absolutely brilliantly.

“It’s been a great success and we are thrilled to bits with making £1,300 for the North East Air Ambulance Service.”

A tombola, children’s toy sale, and tea and coffee stalls were just some of the other ways that the group raised cash on the day.

Volunteers made more than 100 bags to sell.

“We also had some home made cakes which were popular,” added Joan.

“A lot of people came because of the bad weather outside, so that helped us.”
