YOUNGSTERS at a Sunderland school are urging people to join them in putting their best feet forward.

Thornhill School pupils, joined by staff and members of the community, will be taking part in their annual walk for charity.

Thornhill Walk, which has taken place annually for the past 35 years, has raised several thousands of pounds for a number of different charities. This year, the Seaburn to South Shields sponsored walk will be in aid of Cancer UK.

Teacher at the Thornholme Road school, Angela Tench, now has the job of organising the walk, which was previously known as the Lowe House Walk, named after one of the school’s house teams.

She said: “Very few schools within the area, or indeed the country, will have hosted the same charity event for more than 35 years. Here at Thornhill we are very proud of this event.”

The walk takes place tomorrow with walkers setting off at 10am from Seaburn.

Miss Tench, said: “It would be fantastic if any former pupils and parents could join us for this year’s walk.”
