A PUB is the latest venue to sign up to a Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme.
The Garden House Inn, Durham City, has joined the Durham County Council initiative, which aims to support breastfeeding mothers and their families as it gives babies the best start in life.
By signing up, businesses can provide mothers with a welcoming and supportive atmosphere in which to breastfeed.
Information packs outlining the key requirements for being breastfeeding friendly are available for businesses.
The pack also contains a window sticker so families can recognise the venue as being part of the scheme.
James Llewellyn, manager at the Garden House Inn, said: “By joining the scheme we have been able to improve our customer service and have found that our breastfeeding mums have become valued, returning customers.”
Durham mother Nadine Inglis, said: “It’s great to be able to visit breastfeeding friendly venues, where you know you have the support of the venue and staff.”
