LANDLORDS are being warned to check their TV licences as the Rugby World Cup reaches its knockout stages.
With England fighting for a place in the semi-finals this weekend, The British Institute for Inn Keepers and TV Licensing are calling on all pub landlords and managers across Sunderland to check they are covered by a TV Licence if the plan to show the tournament on their premises.
TV Licensing will be visiting unlicensed pubs and bars throughout the tournament, which runs until October 23.
Tim Downs, TV Licensing spokesman for the North of England, said: “To be fair to the majority who do pay the licence fee, we have to take action against those who try to get away with not paying.”
Pubs and bars can purchase a TV Licence from www.tvlicensing.co.uk/business or by calling 0300 7906124.
