A LANDLADY is the toast of her village after scooping a top title for her pub’s community work.

Kathryn Allott and husband Harry are to attend a reception in London next month after the Lambton Arms in Sherburn Village, Durham, was named Charitable Pub of the Year in an area which covers Sheffield to John O’Groats.

They will learn if the bar has won the national title in the awards.

During the last two years, the pub has raised moe than £30,000 for St Cuthbert’s Hospice – chosen after it cared for Kathryn’s late friend Sheila Walton – Help for Heroes and a children’s charity.
