A PUB has served up a winning performance.

The Seaton Lane Inn, in Seaham, has achieved a prestigious 5 Star AA Dinner Award in recognition of its outstanding menu and service, becoming the only restaurant in the Sunderland postcode area to achieve the accolade.

The former blacksmith’s forge is now a boutique hotel, with a traditional bar and an award-winning restaurant, 18 tastefully furnished en-suite double rooms and also an adjacent lounge area and pub.

An AA inspector’s commendation described dining at the hotel as: ‘A very, very good experience, worthy of the Five Star AA Dinner Award’.

Owner Adrian Marshall said: “We are absolutely honoured to receive this award.

“It really gives everyone associated with the Inn great pride to be the only restaurant in the SR postcode to receive such an accolade.”

The venue was first recognised by the AA for its excellent hotel facilities in 2009 and has retained an overall rating of four star gold, which it was awarded last year.
