A PUB five-a-side team will be gunning for success at the Emirates Stadium.

While the Black Cats might have gone down 2-1 when they visited the Gunners this season, these eight lads are hoping to restore some pride to Wearside.

The Sunderland lads are travelling down to Arsenal’s home ground to represent The Board Inn, in the final of the Carlsberg Pub Cup, a tournament to find the nation’s best pub team.

Ross Kennedy – who captains the team called Rossoneri – will join David Smith, Andrew Gartland, Darren George, Jamie Bond, Callum Charlton, Gary Anderson and Kevin Gordon to take on 15 other teams.

Ross, 26, from Herrington, said the lads were excited for tomorrow’s big game.

“We’re just looking forward to it really. Not many people get the experience of playing in a professional stadium, it’s crazy.

“Not many people can say they’ve done that.”

The team has been together for about two years, but known each other for much longer.

“It’s not just a pick-up team,” said Ross.

“We are all good friends.”

If Rossoneri do win, the prize on offer is enough to make any footy fan dribble.

They could score a VIP England package this summer to Euro 2012, including watching England take on Sweden.

They would also represent England and play a team of European legends – including Nuno Valente, Patrik Berger, Michel Salgado, Vitor Baia and Bolo Zenden – under the management of former international Gareth Southgate.
