Preparations are under way for Sunderland’s Halloween Monster Masquerade Ball.

The Psych Twins – Jennifer Clarke and Joanne Bainbridge, two psychology undergraduates from Sunderland University, who help local charities – are fundraising for the Carers Centre in the city by staging the ball at the Stadium of Light in October.

Various local busineses have donated raffle prizes, and there will be a buffet, disco and live entertainment.

Host for the evening will be Simon Newton, who was Johnny Depp’s double in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Members of the Geek Asylum and the Cosplay community will also be helping out.

They are a group who show their love of films, TV and comics by dressing up as their favourite characters and members of The Geek Asylum will be turning up in full costume so guests can have their photos taken with them.

Jennifer and Joanne are hoping to raise £2,000 from the night.

The ball is on October 31 and starts at 6.45pm (VIP ticket holders) and 7.15pm (standard tickets).

Tickets, priced £35 and £20, are available from HEREor by calling 07947 648060.
