A popular fire dog is on the road to recovery after suffering a badly broken front leg.
Scrappy, which works with Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue, had an accident while making a search demonstration at Teesside University yesterday.
His owner, Lee, posted on Facebook: "Scrappy was rushed to see his vet, Kevin at Vets4pets Durham, and then was referred immediately to the brilliant surgery team at Wear Veterinary Emergency Hospital (Bradbury).
"The prognosis is very good for our little fire investigator and he will undergo surgery this afternoon to repair the break.
"Fingers crossed for him, I know everyone at Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is thinking of him and wishing him well."
