Police unsure of motive after girl attacked near Washington school

Police investigating an assault on a 13-year-old girl in Washington have identified a more exact location.

The incident happened around 5.24pm on Thursday, February 25, and it has been established it took place near to Holley Park Academy in Ayton Road.

The girl was not injured in the incident and inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances around the incident and police are appealing for witnesses.

Extra officers are in the area speaking to the local community and offering reassurance.

The offender is described as male, shaven bald head and wearing a black and orange tracksuit.

Detective Sergeant Ed Hedley said: "If anyone was in this area on Thursday evening around the time of the incident then we would urge them to come forward and speak to us as they may have information that can help our enquiries.

"At the current time we do not know what the motive was for this incident which is why it is important we identify the man so we can speak to him.

"Likewise, if anyone knows who this man is we would ask them to get in contact, he was wearing a distinctive black and orange tracksuit which someone may remember."
