POLICE have launched an investigation after they discovered a suspected cannabis farm at a house on Wearside.
Officers found alleged drug plants and growing equipment at a terraced property in Gladstone Street, Roker, on Monday.
A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “At 6.37pm on Monday, officers found a possible cannabis farm at Gladstone Street, in Sunderland.
“Following a search of the premises, around 10 plants were recovered in a bedroom, and several in the loft, as well as associated heating and lighting equipment.
“Electricity supply to the address also had to be made safe.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
Residents today spoke of their shock at the discovery.
“The police were there for quite some time,” said one householder, who wished to remain anonymous.
“We could see them taking away all sorts of plants and equipment.”
