THE search is still on for a wanted man after armed police officers swooped on a house in Sunderland.

Officers carrying weapons including guns and stun guns targeted an address in St Luke’s Road, Pennywell yesterday.

They were sent at 12.45pm after being issued with an arrest warrant for a man.

He was not at the address and police confirmed today the search is still continuing.

Police would not confirm the man’s name or what he is wanted for.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Officers attended the address to carry out a search warrant in relation to an arrest they are attempting to make. The man was not there and the search goes on.”
