INVESTIGATORS looking into how a man died in a collision with a car have made a fresh appeal for information.

Andrew Cook, 34, from Garden Avenue in Durham, was struck by a Vauxhall Corsa shortly before 10.30pm on Thursday in South Road in the city.

It is believed Mr Cook had been lying in the road.

The Corsa driver, a 31-year-old woman from Sunniside and her passenger, a 36-year-old man from Bishop Auckland, were not injured.

Pc Gary Ramsey, of Durham Constabulary’s road policing unit, said “We are keen to speak with the driver of a small dark-coloured car that we believe swerved to avoid a man in the road near to where Mr Cook was hit at around 10.15pm.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
