Police investigating a ram-raid burglary at a Wearside post office have released more details on the crime.

At 2:34am yesterday, a vehicle was driven into the front shutters of the Peat Carr Post Office in Airedale Gardens, Hetton-le-Hole.

The offenders got inside the premises and stole a cash ATM from inside before making off.

Police today revealed that The vehicle they used was a red Honda CRV - registration number R367 KRG.

It was found abandoned in Broomside Lane, Belmont, Durham, at 9:50pm on Tuesday.

The ATM was also found in the grounds of Elemore Hall school in Pittington around the same time.

Anyone who saw the Honda in the area around Airedale Gardens or Broomside Lane, or who has any information about the burglary, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 74 22/12/15.
