POLICE are appealing for help to trace a possible victim of crime in Sunderland.

At 12.30pm yesterday afternoon, officers were informed two men were attempting to persuade an elderly man to withdraw money from a cash machine in Morrison’s carpark in Whitburn Road to buy watches from them.

The man left the area before police arrived and officers are keen for him, or any of his family, to get in contact.

It’s thought he is in his 80s, around 5ft 10 inches tall and was smartly dressed in a calf-length cream-coloured jacket and beige checked hat.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone else who may have been approached by two men in similar circumstances.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are helping police with their enquiries.

The victim or any witnesses should contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 507 090515 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
