POLICE are appealing for help to trace a missing Sunderland man.
Paul Wilkinson, of Elmwood Road, Marley Pots, has been missing from his home since 7.40am yesterday.
Sunderland’s RNLI crews were called out last night just after 7pm to carry out a search for the 38-year-old man.
Two inshore lifeboats checked the River Wear between the marina and the Queen Alexandra Bridge, with the force’s helicopter also drafted in to help.
The search was stopped after three hours when HM Coastguard officers and police said they were satisfied the river had been searched completely.
Mr Wilkinson is described as being 5ft 9ins tall, slim, with short dark purple-black hair.
He was wearing a short cream coat, a black shirt with a flower design, dark blue jeans and yellow Flossy plimsolls.
Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191.
