Denise Eden, group leader, said the day was a big success.

Denise, 55, from Houghton, said: “It was great, they had a lovely time.

“Me and my friend were dressed as Bananas in Pyjamas and a lot of the children were dressed up as well.”

Pirates, princesses and Spiderman made an appearance at the sponsored toddle and Denise’s grand-daughter, 21-month-old old Erica Faye Gardner, came as Belle, from Beauty and the Beast.

“The party was lovely, we had the usual party foods and chocolate cake as well and the hall was dressed in bunting. The kids had on red, white and blue hats as well.”

The toddle was to raise money for the children’s charity, Barnardos, and Denise is still waiting to find out how much has been raised.

“Last year we raised £360, so it should go well,” she added.
