It is, of course, Park Lane Market.

We have searched our archives and found these pictures of the place where you could buy everything from fresh fish to rugs and fruit and vegetables to phone accessories or footwear.

Who doesn’t love a market? The noise and bustle of the people, the stall holders shouting out their promotion and the shoppers trying to bag a bargain.

The different smells from the various stalls were also a familiar feature.

Come rain or shine, the regular visitors to the market would have their favourite stalls and know stall holders by name.

Who remembers the regular trip on a Saturday to help with the shopping? But, you could only leave the market once you had your treat from the sweet shop.

Were you a stall holder in the past? How long did you have the stall for?
