YOUNG jobseekers will be given a behind-the-scenes look at factory life as they are given career guidance and job skills.
PepsiCo will open its Peterlee site as part of its work to support Feeding Britain’s Future Month.
Young people will visit its plant on the North East Industrial Estate, where they will be shown around its Walkers factory and see how crisps are made.
They will then take a practical skills development session which will include CV writing skills and interview techniques, and join in “job dating” where they can discuss career goals and gain tips from PepsiCo employees.
Tracey Foster, the Peterlee site’s manager, said: “The team is really getting behind Feeding Britain’s Future again this year.
“For the young people who are struggling to find employment, this fantastic scheme offers a chance to see inside local businesses and gain vital skills.
“They will also get a feel for the kinds of career opportunities that are available in the food manufacturing sector.”
