AN elderly lady had to be lifted out of a bath by firefighters after she was unable to get out herself because of arthritis.
Paramedics asked for help from the fire crew after they were called to the house in Jasmine Crescent, in Parkside, Seaham, at about 11pm yesterday.
The 70-year-old had already been in the bath for several hours when the decision was made by the ambulance staff to call in extra help.
The woman, who had been covered up, was lifted free by the firefighters within a short time of them arriving at the property.
The pensioner was then checked over by the paramedics, but did not need any further medical attention.
