A SADDLE-SORE hotel worker completed a three-day coast-to-coast bike ride in aid of Grace House.

Gary Marshall, from the Mercure George Washington Hotel, Golf and Spa, in Washington, took to the road with pal Anthony Hall for the 140-mile Whitehaven to Tynemouth feat.

The maintenance engineer and Anthony, 37, from Silksworth, collected more than £1,100 for the Sunderland charity.

Gary, 42, from Biddick, whose 12-year-old daughter Abigail took part in last weekend’s Race for Grace, said: “It feels incredible to be able to support this invaluable charity.”

He added: “The amount raised far exceeded our expectations and really spurred us on.”

The Mercure George Washington Hotel, Golf and Spa has teamed up with The Quality Hotel, in Boldon, for a fund-raising drive in support of Grace House, with staff taking part in activities including a Sportsman’s Dinner on July 26.
