A YOUNG singer from Sunderland could have the chance of a lifetime at a record deal.
Amber Hauxwell, from Ailsbury Street, Millfield, went down to London-based Downtown Artists – who have been associated with various acts including The Beatles and David Bowie – to audition.
The 11 year-old’s family then received the news that she had been chosen by the music artist development and recording agency and recording studio in Soho for a potential record deal.
Her mother, Christine Hauxwell, and grandmother, Jacquelyn Jorgensen, couldn’t be happier with the news.
“It’s fantastic news. It was an open audition when she went down,” said Jacquelyn. “Out of thousands, she was the one who got picked for it. She is going to record two CDs when she goes back there on Thursday and she could get a record deal out of it.”
Christine, 38, is married to Stephen, 39, who works as a plant fitter. Amber has two older brothers, Karl, 17, and Ryan, 13.
Amber has performed at a golf club and at schools.
She is due to start Venerable Bede Secondary School in September after leaving Silksworth Junior School this summer.
Christine said: “She really is a great singer and it is great she is getting recognition.”
