A FORMER Sunderland footballer who scored for the Great Britain team at the Olympics returned to the North East to officially open a pizza shop.

Midfielder Jill Scott, now playing for Everton, visited the new Domino’s shop in North Burns, Chester-le-Street.

Jill, 25, tried her hand at making her favourite pepperoni pizza with a barbecue base.

“When I do get the chance to treat myself to a takeaway, I always choose pizza,” she said. “My try at making a pizza didn’t go too badly for a first attempt, but like anything, it takes a lot of practice.”

The shop is run as a franchise by Mike Racz.

“It was great to have Jill join us,” he said. “She was great fun, a really good sport, and was popular with the customers.”

The first Domino’s in England opened in Luton in 1985, and there are now
588 Domino’s around the country.
