A magical White Christmas could be on its way this year, with the shortest ever October odds of snowfall on December 25

With long-term weather forecasters seeming in agreement the UK is in for a cold winter, bookmaker William Hill is offering odds of 4/1 on the often-longed for festive weather.

It is the first time odds have been this short in the month of October.

As well as snow on Christmas Day, William Hill are offering odds of 20/1 that the coldest ever December is recorded this year (-0.8C) while it is 12/1 that the coldest ever UK temperature of -27.2C is broken.

It comes after Exacta Weather's controversial forecast that the region was set for months of snow. Read more here.
William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: “While some extreme forecasters are predicting the start of a mini ice age, most are in agreement that this winter is going to be incredibly cold and for this reason, we are the shortest price for snow on Christmas Day that October has ever seen."
