THE North East is the second cheapest place in England and Wales to buy a home, new research has revealed.
Research by property website Mouseprice.com shows the region has some of the lowest average house prices in the country.
The figures show that the North-South divide does still exist, as none of the southern regions of England make an appearance in the rankings.
But some estate agents say it “paints an inaccurate picture” because it uses Land Registry Prices from 1995 to 2011.
Burnley was found to have the cheapest homes in the country.
