PLANS to turn a former Sunderland bakery into a retail store have been shelved.
Moves to open the shop in Cleveland Road, Barnes, had met with objections from residents.
The proposal, which would have created 12 jobs, had sparked two petitions which were submitted to Sunderland City Council.
Planning officers for the authority had recommended that members of the development control sub-committee refuse the bid.
However, prior to the meeting at the Civic Centre on Tuesday evening, the application, submitted by businessman Baljit Singh, was withdrawn.
