New clubs are fit for purpose

A NEW grass-roots project aims to instil a love of sport from a young age.

Durham Area Action Partnership (AAP) has provided £10,500 so that The Durham and Chester-le-Street School Sports Partnership can provide Change 4 Life sport clubs throughout the
area.

Activities such as golf, gymnastics and a selection of martial arts will be open to six to nine-year-olds.

Each school will be given the opportunity to work with a coach who will help deliver 12 sessions, and all involved will receive equipment which can be used for future sessions.

While the initial events will be free, parents will be given the option to sign up their child to continue for a small cost, which could see the sessions continue after the pilot.

Schools taking part include Belmont Juniors, Belmont, Cheveley Park, Shincliffe Juniors and Infants, St Godrics, St Margaret’s, Framwellgate Moor Juniors and Infants, Finchale Juniors and Gilesgate Juniors and Infants.
